Prelims 2021 Postponed

  • Due to the prevailing conditions caused by the Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), the Union Public Service Commission has deferred the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2021, which was scheduled to be held on 27th June, 2021.

  • The commission conducts civil services examination annually in three stages — preliminary, main and interview — to select officers of Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) among others.

      IASbhai WINDUP:

  • An almost similar situation happened last year due to COVID-19 lockdown and nation-wise lockdown due to which UPSC 2020 was postponed.
  • While deciding the new dates candidates were given at least 30 days of notice. The exam date(UPSC Prelims 2020) was postponed to October 4.
  • The candidate will now get the extra time to prepare for IAS Exam 2021.
  • UPSC has already postponed the UPSC IAS interviews to a future date.
  • The new UPSC interview dates will be notified later by the commission.
  • Earlier, IAS 2021 notification and application was released on March 4 for 712 vacancies.
  • All the ministries and the departments in the union and state governments are headed by the IAS officers.
  • Hence the IAS exam has acquired this much importance.
  • The topper of the IAS exam has the opportunity to become the Cabinet Secretary to the Government of India.
  • It is the highest bureaucratic position one person can have in India.
